– (2 - 3½ years)
This is a 45-minute parent/child class for children who are ready to participate in "group" activities. Gymini's staff directs the children's activities while the parent takes the role of the secondary instructor. We provide a safe and controlled environment for the child to explore, and provide fun activities to challenge them mentally and physically. Basic social skills, such as listening, taking turns and sharing are emphasized. This is also a good option for the "young" 3 yr old to help them transition into the pre-school class.
– (3 - 6 years)
More and more studies are emphasizing the importance of physical activity for a healthy life. Our main goals for these children are to develop their gross-motor skills, self-confidence, and a love of physical activity. This class is for boys and girls who are ready to participate in a group without their parent. Parents are welcome to watch in our waiting area or go out for a cup of coffee. A warm-up is held to do some "fun" stretching and to signal to your child to focus on the instructor. It is a time to develop their listening skills and ability to follow simple directions. After warm-ups, the children are divided into groups of six and will have four activities for the class. You can follow our weekly lesson plans on the pre-school calendar posted on the Gymini bulletin board along with monthly summaries.
– (Girls 5½ - 7 years, Boys 6 - 8 years)
When the children are ready, they start working on the FUNdamentals of gymnastics. FUN, FITNESS, and FUNDAMENTALS are our goals. We want to challenge the students in a safe environment while building their confidence and willingness to attempt new things. The girls are instructed on vaulting, uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and trampoline. In addition to vault and floor, the boys work on pommel horse, rings, parallel bars, high bar and trampoline. Because the boys' events generally require more upper body strength than the girls, we ask that boys be six (5 years 11 months minimum) to enroll. Gymini maintains a 6:1 student to teacher ratio to ensure individual attention at this level.
– (Girls 8 years and older, Boys 9 years and older)
Students will continue to hone the skills learned in the one hour classes while they are introduced to more complex skills and combinations. The additional class time allows students to focus a little longer on each event and they are given more responsibility to practice drills and skills on their own. The student teacher ratio is 8:1 and the gymnasts are age and/or ability grouped at the teachers' discretion. Because of the upper body strength required for the boys' events, boys must be 9 (8 years and 11 months minimum) to enroll.
The dynamo class is for girls 9 years or older who are more "serious" about the sport and would like to experience the fundamentals of training and low keyed "in-house" competition. You must attend both classes per week to allow sufficient time to train and learn routines.
A one hour tumble/trampoline class for the 14+ HS cheerleader, diver, gymnast, martial artist. Let the instructor know what your particular interest is!
By invitation only. For information, ask in the office.
